Our Story

Founded in 2025 by friends Charlie Hunter and Zeb Bogdanich, Albemarle County Builders, LLC is a custom homebuilding company rooted in craftsmanship, tradition, and a love for creating timeless spaces.

Charlie, a Charlottesville native, began his journey in home construction after college, developing a strong understanding of the local market and a passion for quality construction. Zeb, originally from New England, was raised around traditional building techniques by his father, a skilled timber framer. His deep appreciation for historical architecture informs his talent for designing new homes that feel both classic and enduring.

Their shared vision and complementary skills led them to launch several home building companies together, including their newest venture, Albemarle County Builders. Charlie and Zeb both live in Ivy, Virginia, with their families. Zeb and his wife Jami are raising three daughters, while Charlie and his wife Kristen are parents to two. Together, they bring a family-centered, detail-driven approach to every project, striving to build homes that stand the test of time and reflect the character of Central Virginia.

Charlie Hunter is a residential home builder specializing in new construction homes throughout Albemarle County. With 14 years of hands-on experience, Charlie has built his career on a foundation laid early in life. He learned the construction trade from his father, who built homes in Charlottesville throughout the 1980s, and grew up in a home his father built — instilling in him a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, precision, and lasting quality. What truly sets Charlie apart is his connection to the community he builds for. Born and raised in Charlottesville, and now raising his own family in Albemarle County, he has deep roots in the place he calls home.

For the last 22 years, principal owner Zeb Bogdanich has been renovating and restoring homes, as well as building new custom homes. His connection and love of building goes back even further, as he and his sister, Aliza, worked side-by-side with their parents, Greg and Judy, to completely gut and restore their childhood home in the Historic District of Canaan, NH. After selling that home, the family decided to buy another house and repeat the process, in beautiful and picturesque Lyme, NH. It was there in those New England beginnings, that Zeb gained the appreciation for quality craftsmanship and where his creativity started for the design build process.
